Roda.

Water and land to give life to five dancers that will be everything and will be nothing. Five pieces of clay that participate in the ancestral ritual of spinning until they lose control, disconnecting to then reconnect with our center.

A spin that moves from the inside outwards and that ties us to our roots and gives us the serenity to celebrate life.

Five bodies that form only one, a single element created by soil, sun and water.

RODA is a show for the street and for unconventional spaces, performed by five female dancers that revises traditional Valencian dances from a contemporary perspective.

Following the pottery tradition, both the circle -as the representation of the potter’s wheel- and water are the key elements in the development of this piece.

FOLLOWING THE POTTERY TRADITION, BOTH THE CIRCLE -AS THE REPRESENTATION OF THE POTTER’S WHEEL- AND WATER ARE THE KEY ELEMENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS PIECE.

“Five standing, connected women that dance their heritage looking to the future, reformulating their movement to create an ode to life and to the land.”

Five bodies that form only one, a single element created by soil, sun, and water. Five bodies that connect as one through the circle, the most primitive manifestation of any dance, a circle that does not stop moving, like the potter’s wheel, to become body, energy, power, feeling… To enter a trance where five women create, through their bodies, a dance to celebrate life, traditions, and the land they belong to. A dance in which the plasticity of contemporary movement coexists with the tradition of Valencian folklore and the distinct Arab legacy that lives in it, to reach the present through music and movement. A personal, characteristic dance, connected to the land and projected towards the light, the air, and freedom.

Water that wets the bodies of five women, whose movements become malleable, coiling, as if they were made of clay.
